HARPY EAGLE By: Antonio Fernandini (Perunivian -Biologist) Date: 22 Febrero 2007 I Work many years with harpy Eagles and is one of the birds of my preference, which at the present time require of more support from the settlers, politicians and investigators since the destruction of natural habitat of forest being destroyed without any control, for farming purpose, and for raising cattle.putting in risk the life of the nature and wildlife of Amazon Rain Forest in general Months ago I found an juvenal male harpy eagle, with the wing destroyed by a bullet, this bird did not have any opportunity to survive by its own account by which we had to deal to him with medicines and to conduct some operations, at the moment the bird is better and recovering, but it cannot even fly by which I constructed a great cage of netting, materials that I obtained by donations, the bird is practicing to fly and soon we are going to give back to the nature, at the present time it is eating much, and the chicken meat is its favorite.

By: Alex Duran February 15th & 21, 2007 I was in Amazon Manu Lodge, for 7 days, birding around and I registered many birds but the most spectacular bird was the Festive coquette for me, this bird is so pretty and difficult to see in the forest, the hummingbird visited all the mornings to the garden of the lodge, from 11 in the morning to 12 pm. Easy to see during that time.

By: Walter Mancilla January 05th, 2007 I had the luck of being able to see a beautiful jaguar, in the mammal Clay Lick, attacking a group of wild pigs (white lipped peccary), this place is perfect to be able to take good photos from animals, monkeys, and birds and predators. These places are visited by many species of animals, monkeys and birds to be able to eat the mineral concentration that exists in the clay lick. The platform is very comfortable to be able to observe birds and one can remain to sleep.

PIGMY MARMOSET: Date: February 01 to March 05, 2006 Pygmy Marmosets in Iquitos are really incredible and they are very social. We had been working with NHK film crew from Japan in all February. This program will be caming out on April, 2006. We found 10 groups of 5 to 7 individuals in each group. At the end of the film, they became more friendly, coming close 20 centimeter next to us. They have babies all year round and we filmed two groups with two babies. All the adult members help carrying the babies on the back. They feed on insects and tree sap. |
